The immobile front end tool

My first approach to Business Objects, one of the best known front end tools for business intelligence or, better, for data warehouseing was in the late 1998.

Really a century ago, if we just think how much the world around us has changed in so few years!

What is very interesting is that on big architectures the tool versioning has not been so impressive.

There was a time when it seemed that everything would have been migrated towards a web oriented architecture but now I am still seeing client-server applications working.

The question is: is the product so strong to survive? It seems that the answer is positive, at least after the SAP integration.
